This is the time, as you take a break or commence your winter training, when you should consider your goals for next year.
You should ask yourself questions:
Is my goal to go faster?
Want to go further?
Move up a category?
Qualify for the Worlds?
Choose a specific cycling challenge like the Marmot or Etape de Tour or even Land’s End to John O’Groats?
Try a new event like time trialling or road racing or Mountain Biking?
Next you should consider:
How are you going to train to achieve this, harder or longer?
Are you going use the same approach you always do?
Are you going make your training specific to the event profile?
What are strengths and weaknesses compared to the challenges in the event?
Are you using your training time effectively?
Are you using the resources you have available to their potential?
How do replace quantity with quality when the weather is bad?
Is your training progressive to get the maximum training effect?
Should I include off the bike work for strength and core?
What about flexibility?
So what?
We are all individuals and would answer these question differently therefore to simply follow someone else’s training plan may not work for you.
QN Coaching are offering a 12 week package to help you answer these questions and put together with you a tailored training programme, suited to your personal goal(s) and taking account of your training time and facilities. They will enable you to maximise the benefits derived from each session. Work on your event weakness to turn it into a strength. You will get this with support and guidance including regular contact with your coach to discuss your training.
